Triathlete Tamsyn Moana-Veale came all the way to Morocco in order to participate in the 2014 Larache ATU Sprint Triathlon. However, Moana-Veale found out she had a stress fracture in her foot upon arriving for the competition.
Unfortunately, the stress fracture prevented Moana-Veale from partaking in the running portion of the race. However, Moana-Veale’s doctors did green-light her to participate in the swimming and cycling segments.
Stress fractures can be very painful. If you sustained a stress fracture to your foot or ankle, speak to podiatrist Dr. Alan Discont, D.P.M. of Family Foot and Ankle Care. Dr. Discont can treat your podiatric injuries.
Dealing with Stress Fractures of the Foot and Ankle
The Stress Fractures occur on the foot and ankle when muscles in these areas weaken from too much or too little use. Then the feet and ankles lose support when walking or running from the impact of the ground. Since there is no protection the bones receive the full impact of each step. The stress on the feet causes cracks to form in the bones, thus called stress fractures.
